Truetzschler machines all the way for GPR Mills
SETTING-UP a business in the early 1990's wasn't easy for a single person all alone. Growing the business was even harder. But that did not deter Mr P Ramsubbaraj who wanted to set-up his own business. Mr Ramsubbaraj and his wife Mrs R Saroja Ramsubbaraj set-up their own mill – GPR Mills in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, with 8264 spindles – in 1992. At that time, with a limited budget he could not afford new machines. But as he wanted the best technology, he opted for an old Truetzschler blow-room, DK 803 cards and TD 03 draw-frames.
Determined as he was and with strong business acumen, Mr Ramsubbaraj slowly developed a strong base of loyal customers by providing the best quality yarn. As the business steadily flourished and with the reputation and trust built in the market, Mr Ramsubbaraj decided to expand the mill. In 2018, GPR Mills added a new unit of 1200 rotors spinning 6's to 30's Ne with an average count of 20's Ne. With his long years of experience with Truetzschler technology, the mills opted once again for Truetzschler machinery, comprising the latest blow-room line, 5 TC 10 cards and 3 TD 8 draw-frames for this expansion. “I always wanted to have the latest Truetzschler machines as they are the best and probably that's why I went on to put up a new OE unit. We are absolutely delighted with the excellent features the machines have which no other supplier could give” said Mr Ramsubbaraj. The unit's Technical Head Mr N Kumar observed: “The best part of having Truetzschler machines is that one can forget about maintenance hassles and concentrate on production”. He was happy that in their Truetzschler installation one can skip the breaker draw-frame passage and still get the desired quality yarn. Elimination of breaker draw-frames not only save space, but also save power and utility costs in the day to day running of the plant. At present, the mill produces 5 tons of yarn per day. Even though currently the yarn is sold in the domestic market, the mill is also planning to export their yarn, as the quality of the yarn produced meets the demand of the international buyers. Mr Ramsubbaraj complemented the A.T.E. team for the support provided at all times. He was pleased to inform that all his future expansions too will have Truetzschler machines.
A.T.E. to market Stalam RF dryers across India
A.T.E., an India-based engineering group offering solutions in manufacturing, industrial sales, distribution, and services, will now sell RF dryers of Italy-based Stalam across India. So far, A.T.E. has been representing Stalam across much of India, except the northern region. A.T.E. has now started handling this business for the north India territory too.

Stalam has entrusted A.T.E. with the responsibility of handling sales and service in the northern region effective from January 1, 2019. A.T.E.'s Chandigarh branch office will handle Stalam RF dryers business for the north India territory. Stalam offers the widest and the most advanced range of dryers for the textile industry. Its RF technology offers maximum benefits in terms of the quality of the finished products, reduced operating costs, high flexibility, and outstanding reliability. As of today, more than 2,000 Stalam textile RF dryers are in operation in more than 50 countries. The range covers powers from 3 kW to 320 kW, and simple, manually operated machines to fully robotised lines complete with computerised control and supervision systems. In India alone 150 RF dryers are in operation across various textile substrates such as cotton, silk, wool, polyester, linen, jute, etc. in different package forms.
Passing on the know-how at the Monforts production site
AS the key site for the construction of Monforts finishing machines, Montex Maschinenfabrik in Austria is currently working flat out to meet a very busy new order schedule, while also finalising the new exhibits which will be unveiled at ITMA 2019 in Barcelona this June.

“We have been working very closely with the Monforts research and development team in Mönchengladbach, Germany, to take the latest new ideas through testing and prototyping, in readiness for the exhibition and for future series production,” says Montex plant manager Gert Hanzl. “We are fully exploiting the many new possibilities being offered by Industry 4.0 in the continuous development of design and manufacturing methods.” Located in St. Stefan, in the centre of Austria's Lavant Valley, Montex Maschinenfabrik was founded by Monforts in 1982 as an advanced manufacturing hub. “Our area is known as the 'paradise of Carinthia' due to its favourable climate,” says Gert. “Lignite was mined up to a depth of 600 metres here until 1968. From the outset of Montex in 1982, we have specialised in all aspects of machine production, including high-precision sheet metal working, laser cutting and welding, the assembly of components, painting and shipping, along with a well-organised spare parts service.” The Montex machine shop is equipped with advanced Trumpf laser and CNC cutting machines and presses, with the powder coating of exterior panels also carried out for rapid turnaround. “The respective electrical switch cabinets for the machines are delivered just-in-time from Monforts in Germany according to our production schedules,” says Gert.
While there is standardisation in series-produced Monforts machines, Montex is increasingly called upon to construct tailor made machines with unique designs, according to the special needs of the customers. “We aim for the best combination of already-proven components and carefully-tested special constructions,” says Gert. “We are able to handle extremely large projects, having recently shipped a complete finishing line to one customer within eight weeks, and we were particularly pleased with our proven design of a challenging stenter frame with a 320-degree temperature chamber. We are currently manufacturing machines with working widths of 5.6 metres and we can produce those with widths of up to seven metres, if requested.” The core Monforts machine range, including the industry standard Montex stenters, along with relaxation dryers, Thermex dyeing ranges and Monfortex/Toptex compressive shrinking ranges as well as Matex padders and Eco Applicator minimal coating units, has been significantly expanded with the acquisition of Timatec in 2015, to include a complete portfolio of coating units for virtually all applications in textiles. These have been further developed and been adapted to Monforts electrical plc-control standards and are now available as the Monforts texCoat and Allround units. “The business is currently running very well and with ITMA 2019 approaching we are ready to meet a special challenge,” Gert says, emphasising that the loyalty and satisfaction of the Montex workforce is of paramount importance.

Shima Seiki to participate in Pitti Immagine Filati expo
SHIMA SEIKI ITALIA S.p.A., Italian subsidiary of leading Japanese computerised knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki, is set to exhibit at the 84th edition of the Pitti Immagine Filati exhibition in Florence, Italy, in booth C18/19. The international event for the knitting yarn industry will be held from January 23-25, 2019, at Firenze, Italy. The company will participate in the Fashion At Work section of the exhibition aimed at appealing to the technical and creative interests of visitors by providing hardware and software solutions for design, manufacturing, and processing of knitted goods, according to a media statement by Shima Seiki.

On display will be the SVR123SP computerised knitting machine that features a special loop presser bed, capable of producing hybrid inlay fabrics with both knit and weave characteristics. Demand for such novel fabrics are very high across a wide range of applications, from fashion apparel to sportswear, innerwear, outerwear, uniforms, and other functional clothing, as well as home furnishing and technical textiles. Knitted accessory items will also be presented to demonstrate the flexibility of knitting technology. SVR123SP at Pitti Filati furthermore features the new i¬Plating option, capable of alternating yarn colours in any pattern, producing jacquard¬like designs using plain jersey stitch. Plating can be performed within the same course and for individual needles for even greater diversity in knit design. The latest version of Shima Seiki's 3D design system SDS¬ONE APEX3 will also be exhibited at Pitti Filati. At the core of the company's 'Total Fashion System' concept, APEX3 provides comprehensive support throughout the product supply chain, integrating production into one smooth and efficient workflow from yarn development, product planning and design to production and even sales promotion. Especially effective is the way APEX3 improves on the design evaluation process with its ultra¬realistic simulation capability, whereby virtual samples minimise the need for actual sample-making. This realises significant savings in time, cost, and material, contributing to sustainable manufacturing.
New technology for textile processing on display at Texprocess
TEXPROCESS 2019 will display latest technology for textile processing. The international tradefair presenting machinery and methods for the processing of textile and flexible materials will be held from May 14-17, 2019, at Messe Frankfurt, Germany. Visitors from the fashion and clothing industry, upholstered- furniture manufacturers will visit the show. With exhibitors currently from some 29 countries, Texprocess will be showing the whole range of textile-processing technologies – from design, to layout, to cutting, making, trimming, digital textile printing, conditioning, finishing, textile logistics and textile recycling. Among the exhibitors registered will be all international market leaders, including Amann, Brother, Dürkopp Adler, Human Solutions, Juki Central Europe, Morgan Tecnica, Pfaff, Tajima, Veit and Vetron. Following a temporary absence, Sunstar will be one of those represented at Texprocess again, according to a press release on the show. Among those which have registered for the first time are Browzwear Solutions, Lasembor, INL International Technology, Siruba Latin America, and Summa NV. China, Japan, and Taiwan have registered for national pavilions. Micro-factories – an approach to textile processing which is fully networked and allows individualised products, while working rapidly, flexibly and locally – will be the focal subject at the coming Texprocess. Texprocess currently features four micro-factories. The Digital Textile Micro-Factory at Texprocess and Techtextil, in collaboration with the Denkendorf Institutes for Textile and Fibre Research (DITF) and partners from industry, will be presenting three production lines in hall 4.1 alone – one each for the manufacture of clothing, a 3D knitted shoe and for processing technical textiles, for example, the automotive or furniture industry. RWTH Aachen University, jointly with various partners from industry and research, will be producing a smart cushion in its Smart Textiles Micro-Factory in the passage between halls 4.1 and 5.1, thus demonstrating the industrially compatible production of a smart textile, from design to finished product, to serve as an example of the process. Six firms working in several fields – visualisation, CAD cutting systems, automated body-mass calculation, layout, and process automation – have also come together under the umbrella concept 'World of Digital Fashion'. In hall 4.0, they will be jointly showing the ways in which their products can be integrated and combined in various different workflows within the value-added chain, making the digital process chain into a live experience. The focus will be on the customisation of clothing and fashion. Additionally, Efka, a manufacturer of industrial sewing-machine drive systems, and CAD specialist Gemini will be showing how to produce individually designed football shirts. The micro-factory presents an easy solution that most companies can implement using existing resources and structures. Sustainability is one of the central themes of the upcoming Techtextil and Texprocess. For the first time, the two fairs will be showcasing their exhibitors' efforts towards sustainability. The Techtextil and Texprocess Innovation Awards give prizes for sustainable textile innovations and processing approaches. In addition, the Texprocess Forum will offer a thematic block exclusively around the theme of sustainability in the textile and fashion industry, with an offshoot of Fashionsustain, Messe Frankfurt's conference about sustainable textile innovations. For the first time Techtextil and concurrent Texprocess will be sharing an exhibition hall in 2019. In hall 4.1, Texprocess will be showing its Digital Textile Micro-Factory, with one production line each for clothing, shoes and the processing of technical textiles. In addition exhibitors will be featuring product preparation, finishing, textile logistics, internal materials flow and textile conditioning, plus suppliers of sewing solutions. The Texprocess Special Treatment Area will also be located there, with exhibitors from the effect-finishing segment. Also in hall 4.1, Techtextil will be showcasing some of the suppliers of woven, laid web, braided and knitted fabrics, coated textiles, and nonwovens, as well as selected suppliers of textile machines. The Texprocess Forum in hall 4.1 on every day of the fair will be featuring talks by experts on current topics in the industry. Once again the Forum will be organised in collaboration with the Textile-Clothing Dialogue (Dialog Textil-Bekleidung (DTB)), the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and the World Textile Information Network (WTiN). Visitors will also find new IT solutions for the clothing industry at IT@Texprocess. Among the presentations to be shown by exhibitors will be software for customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), product life-cycle management (PLM) and supply chain management.
Mahlo will participate at Convertech expo
MAHLO and its agency Toyo Machinery will participate in the Converting Technology Exhibition (Convertech), to be held from January 30 to February 1, 2019, in Tokyo, Japan, in booth 3L-14, in East Hall 3. Mahlo is a manufacturer of measuring, control, and automation systems for the textile and finishing industry and the coating, film, and paper sector.
In order to monitor and control web-type products even better, Mahlo has expanded its already broad portfolio of high performance sensors for its quality control system Qualiscan QMS. Mahlo's clients can benefit from additional options, with which parameters such as coating thickness, basis weight and moisture can be determined. Those products are mainly put to use in the automotive sector and with technical textiles. At Convertech, the experienced trade show team focuses on the complete application range of coating and converting, including nonwoven, textiles, plastic films, and papers, the company said in a media statement.
Visitors will have the chance to examine the Mahlo sensors Infrascope NIR as well as the sensor Optoscope WLI in detail. The first mentioned measures the absorption of infrared energy and can identify basis weight and moisture at the same time. Due to its very high spectral resolution, the sensors can distinguish between components with similar IR absorption. That allows the highly selective measuring of a specific component or coat without affecting other components. With especially thin coats, where other systems reach their limits, the Optoscope WLI is used. With the help of white-light interference phenomenon, the sensor is able to measure varnish coats down to a thickness of 0.4 µm. The Optoscope WLI is able to determine even extremely thin coats in the nm range indirectly with aqueous or solvent-based applications on film, depending on the solids content. The sensor's continuous development guarantees exact measurement results.
Colombiatex 2019: Italian textile machinery well represented
AT Colombiatex 2019, Colombia's major textile trade fair, to be held in Medellin from January 22-24, 2019, Italy's primary textile machinery manufacturers will be on hand in the common area jointly set up by the Italian Trade Agency and ACIMIT. ACIMIT is the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, comprising of around 300 companies. Overall, there will be fifteen Italian textile companies exhibiting in the common space, all ACIMIT associated members that include Arioli, Beschi, Biancalani, Btsr, Caipo, Corino, Crosta, Fadis, Ferraro, Itema, Mcs, Ratti, Sicam, Tecnorama, and Ugolini, according to a press release by ACIMIT. Colombia's textile and garments industry has seen a strong period of growth over the past few years, thanks to the signing of a number of international trade agreements and its developing fashion sector. Colombian textile manufacturers have thus been long time partners of Italian textile technology suppliers. The development of the local textile and garments industry needs a technological upgrading, entailing an increase in demand for foreign machinery. Italy has benefitted from this growing demand, in its dominant position as one of the world's major producers of textile machinery. Indeed, Italian exports to Colombia in 2017 amounted to €10 million, and over the first seven months of 2018, sales of Italian textile machinery to Colombia exceeded €4 million. “The ongoing presence of Italian machinery producers at recent editions of Colombiatex confirms the willingness of Colombia's textile sector to continue a growth process that also requires high quality technology, such as Italian machinery manufacturers are capable of providing,” ACIMIT president Alessandro Zucchi said.
