Start afresh this New Year: It is time to ride the wave

Excerpt: Prices of major raw materials, have seen a declining trend, and if things go more south in the next couple of weeks, we should see better days ahead.

It was really a wonderful experience as the President of ISSPA to address a crowd of over a 1000 delegates, spouses, and the children included, at the 15th biennial conference, ISSPA hosted at Hyderabad. The venue, the conference hall and the entire atmosphere, were exemplary. I extend my many thanks to the conveners, and their many lieutenants, particularly members of the TGAP region who toiled day and night to make this event a great success. The past presidents, in particular deserve a special mention for guiding and mentoring me, to prepare and execute this mammoth task. As usual the entire staff & management of The Marriott & Convention center were at their very best. I am sure all the delegates left the venue for their respective destinations, to celebrate the incoming New Year satisfied with great zest.

Coming back from this conference, the entire Paint fraternity was in for some good news. Prices of major raw materials, have seen a declining trend, and if things go more south in the next couple of weeks, we should see better days ahead.

I quote here an article which I recently read in the Times of India, which says that the Indian economy is poised to grow at a steady rate of 7.2% in 18-19, which will be the fastest growing large economy, bettering its 17-18 growth rate of 6.7%.

The growth in the Direct Tax kitty has swollen nearly 14% from April to December 2018 to over 8.7 Lakh crore, meeting the budgetary targets, maybe, should offset the shortfall in GST collections. Further the Government is in the process of boosting the MSME through various measures. We still have three months to go, and looking at the overall scenario, and the implications thereof, I foresee great days ahead.

Remember folks, it is time to ride the wave. Make the best of the opportunity, and as I said in my speech at the beginning of the conference, leave your weighed down back packs at home, and start afresh this New Year. Don't get weighed down by the luggage that you have been carrying around you for so long.

Have a great new year ahead. God Bless.
