The 66th Annual General Meeting and Awards Presentation function of the Dyestuffs Manufacturers Association of India (DMAI) was held on Friday, the 1st July 2016 at Hotel Sea Princess, Juhu Tara Road, Santacruz (W), Mumbai. Shri Ananth Kumar, Hon'ble Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, GOI was the Chief Guest. Shri Narendra K. Parekh, Vice Chairman, Pidilite Industries Ltd graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. More than 100 members of the Association, special invitees, guests & other dignitaries and Press attended the meeting.
Business Session started with a welcome address by President Shri Janak Mehta. Hon.Secretary Shri Jitendra Patel presented the Annual Report for the year 2015-2016 and highlighted the various activities of the Association. 1st Vice President Shri C.K. Singhania declared the unanimous election of the Office Bearers and Members of the Managing Committee for the years 2016-2017 & 2017-2018.
In his maiden Presidential address, Shri Jitendra Patel thanked the members for electing him unopposed as the President of DMAI for the years 2016-2017 & 2017-2018. Shri Patel succinctly mentioned about the various pressing problems of the colorant industry and assured that the legacy of DMAI in solving the same would be continued.
Annual Awards for excellent performances from the industry for 2015-2016 and toppers from the Dyestuff Technology Dept., Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai for 2013-2014 were thereafter presented. Guest of Honour Shri Narendra Parekh summarized the various problems faced by the colorant industry and looked forward for the necessary redressal with the support from the concerned authorities.
In his address Chief Guest, Shri Ananth Kumar expressed his happiness about the industry having captured about 15% of the global market. He declared that a round table conference with the concerned Ministries will be convened in Delhi for the colorant industry within a month's time for analyzing the problems of the industry and finding solutions (Detailed Report is published elsewhere in this issue).
The function ended with a vote of thanks by Hon.Treasurer Shri Rajen Shah and followed by cocktails dinner.
