**In some of my earlier pieces I had written about the need to shore up those segments of the coatings industry that tend not to be in the limelight and are consequently not given their due credence. We have walked the talk in this context and recently conducted another successful edition of RadTech India, as a mark of our commitment to the radiation cured segment.

In a similar vein, the powder coatings segment is one such sector. Inspite of its steady double digit growth mirroring that of the overall industry, where it has quietly crossed the Rs. 1000 crore mark about a year ago, it continues to remain the shadow of the decorative and automotive segments, and to a lesser extent the protective segment. However, the benefits that it offers in terms of being environmentally friendly, cost-effective and its performance attributes in various areas make it a very promising segment to pursue, and makes it all the more perplexing as to why it does not enjoy the prominence it deserves. Once again, we at Paintindia, are happy to step up and take ownership of the task of promoting this Sector.

We will be holding the Powdercoat 2017 Conference at Delhi on 10th February as the first ever event dedicated to this segment. It is being held in conjunction with IPCA, who have a large number of powder manufacturers as their members and hold considerable sway in North India, which has a large catchment area of SME manufacturers of powders. This is also representative of the collaborative era in which we live, where synergies are meant to be tapped into, as long as they enhance the larger objective that is being worked towards.

The event aims to bring in all three links of the supply chain, beginning with raw materials and manufacturing equipment, finished powders and application systems, and also the end users of powders. It will have a steady mix of both technical papers and panel discussions to address both technical advancements as well as user expectations.

We invite concerned colleagues from the powder coatings segment across the industry spectrum and supply chain to be part of this landmark event, and help us in our macro objective of furthering the prospects of the powder coatings segment in India.
