Innovation is not serendipity

Excerpt: The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow. Yes, if what you did well last time, you should be able to repeat it and be consistent.

Many a times I have smelled stagnant waters and attitudes. When people plan and aim for passing marks and not a distinction. This brings a strong fear that if we do not recognise any small instant or effort that can be termed innovative or innovation, we might forever be offered and accept the boring average.

The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow. Yes, if what you did well last time, you should be able to repeat it and be consistent. But learning and innovation go hand in hand. One has to break the shackles and test oneself by first removing every notion of being safe.

In a public forum this can be applauded or ridiculed.

Our Maharashtra team did not taste success as a matter of chance. It wasn't serendipity or a eureka moment that brought them pleasant surprise success. It was all planned and the event was “dressed for success”.

IPCA Maharashtra Knowledge Sharing Seminar for which there should be a detailed report in this edition of PaintIndia, had many firsts to its credit, that must be covered in the report. When the program was being designed, like any healthy organisation in pursuit of true innovation, there was interaction, conflicts and debate. And at the team had its vision clear and visible.

It is very important that one should realise that perhaps most of the successful achievements, marquee ideas, pioneering firsts and innovative formulas can be duplicated by a laggard by copy paste or simply by spending money from its coffers. Its the one who takes the risk of being innovative first, is the one who gets true appreciation.

IPCA has always had a close bond with PaintIndia and whether it is friendship that we mutually treasure with Mr. Dilip Raghavan or the vast delegations we bring to our very own PaintIndia exhibition. We have grown over the years. Now the two leading organisations have come together to deliver the first maiden National Summit on Powder Coatings: PowderCoat on 10th February 2017 at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Dwarka, New Delhi. Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Immediate Past President, IPCA is the Convener for this very focussed national summit, that promises to deliver the latest in powder coating innovation to manufacturers, technologists, raw material and equipment manufacturers & suppliers and marketing and management professionals.

It will be an excellent opportunity to discover new innovations, meet with industry colleagues and marks the maiden attempt by IPCA through an exclusive Partnership with PaintIndia to grab and command expositions, seminars and conferences in the fast growing Powder Coating Industry. It is destined to be a must attend event for the powder coating industry in India.

Save the date and see you all soon,

Jatin Aggarwal President - IPCA
