NimkarTek Detox Laboratory has established state-of- the art equipment such as GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis. A new eco-toxicity section consists of equipment for Algal Inhibition Toxicity Testing, COD, BOD, Ready and Inherent biodegradability.
The laboratory has capability to test for restricted substances in substrates(garments, fabrics, yarns, fiber, accessories), colorant/chemical formulations and wastewater samples.
Restricted substance groups such as APEOs, Heavy metals (Total and Extractable), Chlorophenols, Chlorinated Aromatics, Phthalates, Banned amines from Azo dyes, PAHs, SCCPs, Formaldehyde and VOCs can be tested.

Screening of finished products for conformance to Brand Chemical Restrictions (RSL/RSS): Global Brands & Retailers monitor chemical restrictions through their 'Restricted Substances List'(RSL) or Standard (RSS) which prescribe Limit Values for residues of the listed substances on the final article. NimkarTek offers testing ofAP/APEOs, Heavy metals (Total and Extractable), Chlorophenols, Chlorinated Aromatics, Phthalates, Banned amines from Azo dyes, PAHs, SCCPs, Formaldehyde and VOCs in the final articles
Pre-screening for Eco-label criteria: Certification of Eco-labels (such as GOTS and OekoTex 100) need to be renewed annually as well as randomly monitored for conformity to their criteria on restricted substances in finished goods. NimkarTek offers testing for pre-screening your finished articles for these eco-label criteria so that you are sure of your certification approval. For Colorant and Chemical Manufacturers
Screening of chemical and colorant formulations for the ZDHC MRSL: The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Group of apparel & footwear brands have developed a 'Manufacturing Restricted Substances List' or MRSL which details 16 Chemical Groups and their analytes that are restricted from usage in input colorant and chemical formulations. Limit values for unintentional contaminations of these analytes must be complied with by chemical suppliers. At NimkarTek Detox Laboratory, chemical and colorant formulations can be screened for conformance to the ZDHC MRSL residue limits and the manufacturer can declare a 'Positive List' of formulations to his clients.
Testing for GOTS criteria for input chemicals: The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) standard lists chemical inputs that may (potentially) be used in conventional textile processing but that are explicitly banned or restricted for environmental and/or toxicological reasons in all processing stages of GOTS Goods. The GOTS input chemical restrictions as well as toxicity parameters requirements can be tested and confirmed at NimkarTek Detox lab for submission to GOTS Certifying Agency.
