Dystar and its partners launch innovative viscose melange yarn
DANUFIL ProShade is the name of an innovative new viscose melange yarn resulting from a development cooperation between the three industry partners Kelheim Fibres, Linz Textil and DyStar. What's new about Danufil ProShade? While usually a melange yarn is spun of differently coloured fibres, Danufil ProShade consists of a blend of standard viscose fibres and Kelheim's speciality viscose fibre Danufil Deep Dye and is only dyed as needed at a later stage in the process.
This is made possible by the particular properties of Kelheim's Danufil Deep Dye fibre: Due to its permanent cationic charge this speciality fibre has a significantly higher dye absorption capacity than standard viscose fibres. The difference in intensity and speed of the dye pick-up of the viscose fibres spun into Danufil ProShade allows a wide range of colours in melange dyeing of one and the same fibre material to be achieved.
Thus, Danufil ProShade melange yarn offers clear benefits for the dyeing process: a selected range of Levafix and Remazol dyes allows a salt-free dyeing process. Due to shorter dyeing cycles it is possible to save up to 30% in terms of water and energy, which is a clear advantage for the environment. At the same time productivity increases –a time saving of up to 40% speaks for itself!
Excellent reproducibility, levelness as well as a high level of light fastness and fastness to washing have been proven in numerous tests and commercial dyeing processes. Furthermore, DyStar offers comprehensive customer support – including support in developing dye recipes that ensure optimum results.
More benefits are obvious in terms of logistics and warehousing: Danufil ProShade can replace a stock of differently dyed yarns or fabrics and so reduces significantly the amount of capital required. The subsequent dyeing can be done in thousands of different melange tones according to the customer's specific needs and so allows a fast and flexible reaction to orders as well as production on demand – even of small melange lots.

Dyewell-480 from Sarex Chemicals
THE extreme crystalline nature of polyester fibres create problem in obtaining dark shades by conventional dyeing methods even at high temperature. The leveling-diffusing agents are found to assist the disperse dyes to enter the polyester polymer, enabling dark shades to be produced. These agents will swell the polyester fibres, increase inter polymer space and let the dye molecules to enter the polymer system easily.

Sensient raises the bar for sublimation ink performance with ElvaJet Punch
SENSIENT Imaging Technologies S.A. today announces the launch of a new range of digital sublimation printing inks for high performance decoration of polyester fabrics. The new range is suitable for fashion apparel, sportswear and flag & banner applications.
The ElvaJet Punch range of digital textile inkjet inks is designed to achieve the highest quality sublimation polyester fabric printing using both coated and uncoated transfer papers, delivering unsurpassed color vibrancy and printing performance. Sensient has designed a specific set, ElvaJet Punch EP, for use on all types of Epson-based systems, including both Epson DX- and Epson TFP-based printers.

Clothes will soon store energy from body movement
RESEARCHERS have created stretchable and electrically conductive fibres that can be braided and knitted using traditional techniques to create wearable garments that monitor human movement.
The ability to arrange different types of fibres with predetermined spatial organisation gives us the colour, vibrancy and comfort we encounter in traditional textiles.
By replacing conventional fibres with those that can conduct electricity, researchers can allow for monitoring of human movement using wearable garments, and even to store the energy required to power such a function.
Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science researchers have created new fibre structures and used traditional knitting and braiding techniques to introduce both of these capabilities to wearable structures.
A knitted textile based on the polymeric composite fibres, produced at the Australian National Fabrication Facility, is highly sensitive, stable and able to detect a wide range of human movement.
The team demonstrated a working device with remote sensing capabilities using a knee sleeve prototype of the fabric that 'talks' to a commercial wireless receiver.
These fibres are not only stretchable but also conduct electricity. This combination of properties allows the fibres to respond to body movement. For energy storage the materials that make up a battery have been braided into appropriate arrangements to deliver energy storage capabilities, researchers said.
