PROTECTCOAT 2016 NACE Paintindia Joint Seminar

PAINTINDIA – India's premier journal on coatings and paints has been organising PaintIndia Exhibition and Seminar every alternate year, which has been a popular event for the entire coatings and paint Industry. This year it was held between 21st to 23rd Jan 2916 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (E), Mumbai.

Paintindia Exhibition has been providing a valuable platform for all the people from the paint Industry.

Paintindia requested NACE International Gateway India Section to organise a Half Day Workshop (as organised earlier) on protective coating which was named has ProtectCoat 2016. The half day workshop was held on 23rd Jan 2016 alongside Paintindia Exhibition. Mr. Ramesh Tripathi from Chugoku Paints India co-ordinated the event and welcomed the delegates.

  Dr. Samir Degan, Trustee NIGIS and vice president elect 2015, NACE International introduced NACE and its battle against the effects of Corrosion. He gave a very educational and informative talk on corrosion, its costs and about the corrosion study along with a few case studies.

Mr. K.L. Batra, Chugoku Marine Paints gave a talk on general state of Indian Coatings Industry.

Mr. Rajesh Bardia, PPG Asian Paints made a presentation on New Development in High Performance Coatings. He discussed about the key trends in the markets; key Innovation drivers for coating Industry; future technologies and the way forward.

Mr. Xaviers Pereira, Kansai Nerolac Paints talked about Coatings for Oil and Gas Sector.

   Mr. Amol Bakre from 3M presented Rapid-Curing Epoxy System for protection of underground assets. He talked about the advancements in plant & field applied coatings; the critical factors to consider during product selection; the features, advantages & benefits of new generation coating systems. Advancements in field applied coatings. In conclusion he said that for both plant applied and field applied coatings, the Oil and Gas Industry has relied on coatings to protect their pipelines from corrosion for many years; for field applied coatings, the two part liquid epoxy coating tends to be the preferred choice; Abrasion Resistant Epoxy Coatings (AREC) are the next generation of field applied pipe line coatings; ARECs are a tough and rugged coating yet extremely flexible. This new technology will give pipeline owners confidence that their pipeline have solid protection for years to come, he said.

Mr. Prasad Talvekar of Hempel spoke on Zinc Rich Coatings for High-Performance application.

Mr. Mahesh Aradhye of Growel gave insight on “Factor affecting selection for high performance coatings” like environment, substrate design, substrate condition & pretreatment; cost consideration; application of coatings; operating considerations like exposure; insulation, resin systems; pigments & fillers and evaluation of coating performance.

Mr. Radhakrishnan from Paintindia thanked NACE India for organsing the above Workshop.

The conference was very well attended by 70 + delegates from the paint Industry and many large Customers.
