THE Chemical and Alkali Merchants' Association (CAMA) established in 1956 with one lakh turnover comprising now over 2,000 members with one lakh crore mark is a vital link in the supply chain between the manufacturers and users spread over the country. The Managing Committee is elected by the members once every two years.

The annual Diwali get-together, Managing Committee election for 2018-2020 and musical program by youth artistes was organised on 24th November 2018 at Mukesh Patel Auditorium, NMIMS Complex and was anchored by Mr Bhimsingh interspersed with quotes and episodes of interest. It was attended by past presidents, members, importers, traders, suppliers, brokers, indenters, authorized stockists of various producers dealing in chemicals, dyes, intermediates and allied products. Mr.Ramnikbhai Gosalia, senior member graced the occasion. The Committee meets every month to discuss various problems faced such as sales-tax, central excise, octroi, customs, payment settlement systems, etc.

Introducing Mr.Ravindra Swaroop, special invitee, Mr.Vikas Tanna said he is Mechanical Engineer and MS in Public Administration from Harvard University, Additional Director General (Taxpayer services), Mumbai zone CBIC & Commissioner (GST & Central Excise) and recipient of President's Award for meritorious services. Mr.Swaroop represents Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and GST implementation in Mumbai and appreciated the business community particularly CAMA for supporting them in implementation of this reform and said it was easy and compliance has improved as well as tax payments and wished them all the best. He was felicitated for contribution and perseverance of successful roll out of GST in Maharashtra followed by National Anthem. Managing Committee and Members: The New team was sworn in. In any organisation, leaders change but not leadership which means new team, enthusiasm, ideas and goals. Mr.Sanjay Parekh, Outgoing President (2016-2018) spoke about his tenure, spirit of brotherhood, punctuality, conducting seminars and efforts of his team followed by Mr.Samir Kanakia, Incoming President (2018-2020), a multifaceted personality thanked the members for attending the annual get-together celebration and looking ahead with vision and plan of action for taking CAMA to the next level.

Proposing vote of thanks, Mr.Vipulbhai thanked outgoing President Mr.Sanjay Parekh and his team for outstanding work. Special thanks to Mr. Ravindra Swaroop, artistes of the musical program and CAMA sponsors and members for their contribution and support. The function ended with dinner.
